Abstract :
Current efforts to provide distinct levels of Quality of Service (QoS) in the Internet are concentrated on the Differentiated Services (DiffServ) approach. DiffServ are a set of technologies used to enable the provisioning of class-based, Differentiated Quality of Services. One of the essential building blbcks to realize DiffServ is the use of traffic conditioning mechanism to support the required forwarding behaviors. Internet protocol (IP) header can be used to deliver anew kind of services to packets in the Internet. DiffServ can be consfructed by setting bits in an IP header field at network boundaries or by using those- bits. to determine how packets are forwarded. Because DiffServ is regarded as ´the foundation of the next generation Internet QoS architecture, it is helpful to design a DiffServ router (DSR) and evaluate its performance. Here, the specification on DSR is analyzed first and then outlined the module required to construct DSR based on Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards and drafts. Evaluations of prototype DSR show that different .structures and parameters akect the performance of Different services.
