Abstract
The approach of this paper allows one to treat the `soft-constrained´ differential game associated with nonlinear H∞-problems on a rather elementary level. The solutions of the Isaacs´ PDE are obtained by the method of characteristics by integrating a Hamiltonian system of ODEs. The crucial elimination of the adjoint variable from the control law is taken care of by results in the theory of integral manifolds
