Abstract :
A description is presented of PPC (Polymorphic Parallel C), a parallel programming language and simulator supporting the high-level description of algorithms for SIMD massively parallel computers and particularly for polymorphic processor arrays (PPAs). PPC is easy to use, powerful, and compatible with existing software, and it provides parallel data allocation on distributed memories and parallel processing of such data through extensions to the C language. PPAs belong to the class of SIMD enhanced meshes in that they are based on a two-dimensional mesh but also feature high-speed buses to achieve high communication throughput between nonneighbor processors
