Abstract :
We have proposed and investigated broadband eccentric annular slot antennas as an effective way to achieve a wider bandwidth in annular slot antennas. The eccentric antenna was analyzed using the FDTD method, and the computed results of return loss were in good agreement with the measured results. The maximum impedance bandwidth of the antenna with the slot radius of 15 mm was 1.27 octave for VSWR<2 at the center frequency of 5.225 GHz. These results show that by using an eccentric slot antenna, we were able to achieve a significantly wider impedance bandwidth than those in a conventional annular slot antenna of equivalent size.
