Abstract :
The end-to-end provisioning delay will be a crucial metric for service level agreements because rapid, dynamic service provisioning is expected to be the killer application for the success of future optical networks. In this paper we study analytically and assess experimentally, in an ASON/GMPLS test bed, the delays experienced by all the network elements and components involved in the provisioning of soft-permanent connections. This is done according to an approach for designing the management-control architecture which is compliant with the ITU-T.
