Abstract :
The paper describes the design and testing of motors for a set of integrated motor/pump packages. Both stator and rotor of the motors are canned to allow pumped liquid to be forced through the motor air gap by the high-pressure pump impeller. The extra losses resulting from eddy currents in the cans are found from test results and a simple technique to estimate the losses in the stator can is proposed.
