Abstract :
Combined with superiority of wavelet in dealing with time-varying information and advantage of Catastrophic Theory in dealing with breakdown automatically, an automatic traffic incident detection method based on wavelet analysis and Catastrophic Theory is presented in this paper. The new method has general adaptability because of the combination strategy of wavelet theory and Catastrophic Theory. And it is better than the traditional method based on Catastrophic Theory because of double-scale detection. We test the new model with the traffic speed data at the end of the paper.
