Abstract :
In this paper we present a novel architecture which implements sharing of the transceiver pairs between the regeneration sub-system and the local add-drop subsystem of the optical cross-connect. By making minor changes in the existing architecture we can implement our sharable architecture. We show in our work that a sharable architecture can be used to reduce the blocking probability of add-drop connections and also maintain the necessary grade of service for regeneration connections. We present 3 different sharing schemes in this work. By using a sharable architecture we can reduce the net number of transceivers to achieve a desired blocking probability.
