Abstract
The article presents the model solution of 3-dimensional excitation problem for a dielectric sphere consisting of uniform and nonuniform parts (the latter being called ´inclusion´). The special feature of method utilized is the combination of rigorous techniques based on integral equations (IE) and eigenfunctions expansions (EE). This allowed to avoid time consuming integration over the volume of uniform part (as in volume IE techniques) or along the boundary with the outer region (as in surface IEs), to make use both from IE flexibility and high effectiveness of algorithms based upon EEs. Additional numerical advantages are provided by exploiting the Green´s function of free space with the electromagnetic properties equal to ones of uniform part of the structure. Electromagnetic field calculation inside the dielectric sphere with inhomogeneous insertion.
