  • Abstract
    This paper describes the technical problems in selecting an appropriate machine to use with an electrically assisted turbocharger. The mechanical and thermal constraints are reviewed and design studies under-taken to evaluate different machine options. Because of their robust nature induction machines emerge as the preferred option.
