Abstract :
We study the relay assignment problem for cooperative diversity using a wireless network setting in which the terminals (nodes) are randomly distributed. Specifically, we develop low-overhead and decentralized relay assignment protocols whose performance is close to the protocols which require more overhead in terms of handshaking and look-up tables or a centralized structure to assign relays to the transmitting nodes.
