Abstract
Using distributed resonances of one dimensional Bragg structures and following the proposal of Scalora et al. [see Phys. Rev. vol. A 56, p. 3166, 1997] we recently demonstrate, simultaneously, phase matching and enhancing of the interacting optical fields in second harmonic generation. This led to a spectacular second harmonic efficiency growth close to the sixth power of the structure length, far better than the usual quadratic behavior associated to second order nonlinear effects. We address here different features associated to the strength of the Bragg resonances, material imperfections and departure from the designed nominal values.
