Abstract
The non-uniform sampling theory states that any analogue signal whose spectrum is limited to 1/T can be exactly recovered from 2 sequences of samples taken at a rate 1/T and having a different sampling phase. This paper addresses the problem of motion estimation and compensation of CIF/SIF sequences when aliasing is still existing within the frames. This is the case when the method promoted by MPEG 4 is used to obtain CIF/SIF sequences from CCIR 601 original sequences. The motion estimation is performed by using the two previous frames instead of only one previous frame. Interpolation formulas are derived from the non-uniform sampling theory and simulation results are furnished
