Abstract
Based on the problems of many switching devices and low quality output voltage of conventional multilevel inverter, an asymmetrical hybrid multilevel inverter topology is presented. This topology can decrease the numbers of switching devices on the condition of the same number of level of the output voltage. The hybrid moderation control strategy adaptable to hybrid multilevel inverter is adopted, which avoids load current backflow and reduces total harmonic distortion (THD) of output voltage. The simulation result indicates the validity of the inverter topology and its modulation strategy.
