Abstract :
This paper presents a novel active power filter based on a new detecting method of distorted current. The new detecting method can implement real time measurement of harmonic and reactive currents. So the filter can compensate simultaneously both the harmonics current and the instantaneous reactive current in a power system. This paper describes the principle of distorted current compensation, the filter´s configuration, etc. Also, test results of laboratory studies are presented. The filter´s validity is verified through an experiment
