Abstract :
This paper describes the development of a RF range tester to measure the performance of cordless telephones. The proposed hardware consists of a Motorola DSP56001 digital signal processor (DSP), a HP11713A programmable attenuator switch driver, an artificial central office simulator and an artificial ear. Software development includes data acquisition of test signals, calculation of fundamental frequency and total harmonic distortion, and hence performing SINAD measurement. The fast Fourier transform (FFT) software is able to execute a complete 1024-point complex FFT on complex data in 4.72 ms. The SINAD measurement is used to determine the received signal quality of the cordless telephone. The hardware and software design for the basic model of the RF range tester has been satisfactorily tested
