Abstract :
Today´s computing environments such as video conferencing, distributed simulation, multi-user games, and many more applications involve dynamic peer groups. Communication among dynamic peer groups must be secure and, at the same time, fast and cost effective. Member authentication is one of the important security services that are to be implemented in all the secure communication. This paper discusses the relevance of an efficient cryptographic protocol in a key agreement protocol. We compare the performance of two public key cryptographic systems namely - RSA and Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem (ECC) by computing execution time and memory size for encryption and decryption process. The performance is analyzed with different key sizes and variable word lengths.
