Abstract :
The implementation of a magnetic resonance imaging pulse sequence that is capable of giving true diffusion images is reported. The approach is based on the fact that diffusion processes are not reversible but that perfusion processes are. It uses a flow-compensated pulse sequence that is capable of rephasing the moving spins at the point of the spin echo. At the same time it provides an attenuation of the echo due to spin diffusion only on the order of 40%
