Abstract :
This paper presents a simple mathematical model of a physically realizable ultrawideband (UWB) impulse that is convenient for the design of intricate UWB signals with modulation and coding. The design of a UWB signal with hybrid amplitude coding and period staggering (or time-hopping code) is presented. The signal structure of a UWB-throb signal with linear pulse-repetition-frequency (PRF) modulation is described too. The ambiguity functions of the hybrid amplitude-time-hopping coded signal and that of the UWB-throb signal yield enhanced clutter suppression capabilities and high range-Doppler resolution. Plots of such ambiguity functions are presented.
