Abstract :
This paper addresses the OSHA, IEEE, and NFPA electrical safety requirements, procedures, and responsibilities for managing electrical safety when working with electric power utility systems and equipment. The three primary hazards of electricity; electrical shock, electrical arc flash, and electrical arc blast will be addressed. The requirements for an Electrical Safety Program, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be addressed. The multi-employer relationship requirements for managing work between the utility and the contractor will also be discussed.
