Abstract :
With an increasing emphasis on security, automated personal identification based on biometrics has been receiving extensive attention over the 1990s. Iris recognition, as an emerging biometric recognition approach is becoming a very active topic in both research and practical applications. Iris recognition is the process of recognizing a person by analyzing the apparent pattern of his or her iris. A typical iris recognition system includes iris imaging, iris detection, feature extraction and recognition. In this paper, we illustrate the existing techniques utilized at the different stages of the iris recognition process and evaluate their performance. In addition, we explore additional techniques to improve performance
