Abstract
Ultra-wideband (UWB) is an emerging technology for high speed short-range wireless communications. It has many attractive advantages such as high data rates, robustness to multipath fading and coexistence with narrowband wireless systems. Error control coding is an essential component of a wireless communications system. In this paper, we employ Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes in a UWB system. Both errors-only and and errors-and-erasures decoding are considered. Performance results are presented and evaluated for a direct sequence spread spectrum pulse position modulation (DS-SS PPM) UWB system over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with multiple-access interference
