Abstract :
A model that combines the Sobel operator with prefiltering and gray-scale transformation to produce a radiograph with better contrast and detail is presented. The prefiltering utilizes the Gaussian convolution mask for high-frequency noise suppression. A gray-scale transformation technique is used to increase the slope between the radiograph image and the background. This process produces better input for the final enhancement. The final processing makes use of the Sobel gradient operator
