Abstract :
Results of an investigation of a power-MOSFET-based, voltage-controlled, three-phase inverter operating at switching frequencies exceeding those used in typical supersonic inverters by one order of magnitude are reported. The inverter, called hypersonic, employs an original, random pulse width modulation strategy with the so-called optimal harmonic modulating functions. Real-time-generated (in a simple microprocessor system), high-frequency switching patterns result in a practically pure sinusoidal output current and an increased fundamental of the maximum obtainable output voltage.<>
