Abstract :
Today´s competitive environment makes companies reduce product development time and cost in order to sustain their competitive advantages. And product development process modeling has been a chief problem in modern product development process management. This work aims to propose a powerful modeling language to make an exact and full description of design process, organize and coordinate the processes and resources and quicken the time of design circle at last. Firstly, we discuss the wide benefits of product development process modeling, and then we present the characteristics of modern product development pattern in order to achieve an exact and full description of it. Two types of task dependencies have been adopted, and we mainly discussed the temporal dependencies which is one of the foundations of product process modeling. According to the characteristic of modern product development, hierarchical time colored Petri nets (HTCPN), a powerful modeling language, is introduced, and a pump development practice process model based on HTCPN is proposed. At last, the performance analysis of HTCPN and process model based HTCPN are introduced. We find that many performances product development process modeling concerned are easily discovered from our model.
