Abstract
The value of network transparency increases with the size and complexity of the network. However, due to performance considerations, network transparency is difficult to achieve in an internet environment. Specialized protocols were developed for the IPLocus distributed operating system so that transparency is feasible over an internet. These protocols are examined and compared to traditional internet protocols.<>
