Abstract :
A diffraction synthesis technique based on global surface expansion coefficient optimization is presented. The key step is to expand the reflector surface in terms of global expansion coefficients and then utilize an optimization algorithm to determine the unknown surface coefficients by imposing a required cost function on the far-field pattern performance. In the course of the optimization procedure, the far-field pattern at specified observation angles is determined using a diffraction analysis computer program. Numerical simulations were performed to assess the utilization of the development algorithm. Results are shown for a representative case.<>
