Abstract :
A new method for constructing direct digital frequency synthesizers (DDFSs) and phase-locked loops (PLLs) is presented. The DDFSs and PLLs have a high frequency resolution, low spurious noise and high frequency-switching speed. The frequency resolution in μHz-range can be reached and at the same time the spurious noise is kept MHz apart from the carrier. The large spurious-noise-to-carrier distance makes it easy that the amplitude of the spurious noise be strongly attenuated and at the same time a short frequency-switching time of the DDFS and the PLL be kept
