The contribution of technology facilitated learning in the development of actuarial competencies in tourism business management education: an empirical investigation

We report the outcome of a quasilongitudinal investigation into the effects on students´ performance of integrating technology facilitated learning (TFL) using MS Excel into the business statistics syllabus of a tourism management programme. By varying the magnitude of TFL applied in the syllabus of the subject across four consecutive cohorts, the impact on the students´ performance was cross compared. The outcome of this investigation suggests that TFL contributes constructively towards enhancing the students´ performance. The inferences were found to be consistent with a host of theoretical considerations in published literature.
