Abstract :
An analytic procedure for determining the induced EMF in generator terminals is presented. The pole shape and the damper winding geometry have been considered, characterizing mainly the damper winding pitch. The conclusions were corroborated by measurements and have direct application in the telephone influence factor (TIF) prediction in an early stage of the generator conception, allowing designers to choose risk free the best stator slot number. This methodology could be also used to analyze the generator behavior including armature reaction
