Abstract :
Protection of small generators that provide backup or standby power for critical facilities is no different than that of large generators. The challenge is that the CTs and CT secondary circuits for generator protection are not properly designed for the installation. This paper discusses these issues, and makes recommendations for proper design of CT circuits for small generator differential protection.
