Abstract :
A deterministic model based on ray tracing algorithms for indoor radio propagation which is suitable for analyzing performance of sector antenna systems in indoor radio channels is presented. Using this model the outage probabilities of BPSK and BPSK/DFE radio modems with omnidirectional and six-sector antennas operating in a typical laboratory environment, which is a section of the Atwater Kent Laboratories at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute that includes seven different rooms, is compared. The effects of room size, data rate, and sector antenna patterns on the performance of the systems are analyzed
