Abstract :
With the fast development of modern manufacturing technology and the severe market challenge, there are higher demands for the collaborative work ability among enterprises through Internet. To meet the demand, a STEP and EXPRESS based remote transmission mechanism for product model information is designed. The proposed mechanism fulfilled the product model information exchange and integration among heterogeneous CAD systems by combining STEP AP and EXPRESS language. An application system based on the approach is implemented and put into practice in one die mould company. Results show that the system does effective affects for the remote collaborative design among the company, its customers and partners, helps to promote company´s competitive ability to the market.
