Abstract :
This paper describes a new method for reconstructing an accurate image with a Compton camera. In the backprojection of Compton CT data with the source space tree algorithm (SSTA) we have to decide on octants intersecting the cone surface. With the conventional algorithm this judgement was sometimes incorrect and this caused artifacts on a reconstructed image. The proposed method is not based on the critical radius as is used in the conventional SSTA, but on the octant itself. Thus the algorithm produces correctly tagged octants and no artifact in a reconstructed image. Results obtained by simulations showed the performance of the proposed method
