Abstract
This paper provides an overview of the North American Mobile Application Part (MAP), which is documented in Electronic Industries Association (EIA)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) Interim Standards (IS)-41. The purpose of the IS-41 series of recommendations is to address the ongoing and developing concerns of the Cellular Radio-telecommunications Industry with regard to useful services requiring standardized intersystem procedures. In particular, the major enhancements in each of the published IS-41 revisions and the handoff and automatic roaming procedures are described
