Abstract :
We demonstrate for the first time high capacity (100 Gb/s) long-haul (7200 km) multi-channel (10×10 Gb/s) transmission using distributed Raman amplification. The noise performance of our 514 km Raman amplifier chain was 2 dB better than a similar amplifier chain using lumped erbium-doped fiber-amplifiers
