Abstract :
In the current market of surveillance technology, the products seem to offer minimal, nonflexible alert system and are costly. In addition to the increasing awareness of efficient home surveillance system, the implementation of real-time alert system is important for users. Real-time implementation is achieved by using a GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) modem for SMS (Short Message Service) notification supplemented by e-mail notification for recording data off-site to FTP (File Transfer Protocol) storage. Microsoft Visual Studio 2005™ is used to execute the algorithm of the system for SMS and e-mail notification, and as well as prompting visual device for motion detection. The ability of tracking and recognition of the visual device was implemented using OpenCV™ converted into MATLAB™ for output display. In this paper, the results of system were shown sequentially, demonstrating that the notification were sent as the motion event is happening, emulating real-time components.
