Abstract
In street microcells with low antenna heights the output power can be kept very low when coverage only is wanted along a line of sight street. However if one also wants to have coverage in buildings along the street, then one needs an extra margin due to the building penetration loss. From measurement at 1700 MHz with a base station located in the street it is shown that the path loss can be at least 30 to 45 dB higher in an ordinary office building compared to the loss outside in the street where a line of sight condition exists
