  • Abstract
This paper concerns the conversion of the register schema of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO)´s S-100 standard to a database schema for implementation of a Feature Concept Dictionary (FCD) register. The FCD register, one of the registers of the IHO Geographic Information (GI) registry, maintains independent sets of feature, attribute, enumerated value, and information type definitions. Registered items in the FCD register are used to develop a feature catalogue, which is a component of an S-100-based product specification. For support of feature catalogue development, an FCD register can be implemented as a database system. In order to build the FCD register´s database, we analyze its information model. But as the register schema is represented using the Unified Modeling Language (UML), we need to analyze the FCD register schema and design a database schema based on the conversion of the former´s UML elements.
