Abstract :
This article reviews multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network mechanisms for providing traffic engineering (TE) and quality of service (QoS) with. the emphasis on an emerging technology Differentiated Services-aware MPLS traffic engineering (DS-TE). It then analyzes how DS-TE enabled networks can provide the multi-level precedence and preemption (MLPP) like functionality in converged military networks and identifies some DS-TE constraints. The article then suggests some practical implementation approaches for overcoming these limitations.
