Abstract :
Critical current and AC losses of high temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes greatly depend on the magnetic field by which they are surrounded. Moreover, because of the anisotropic properties of the HTS tapes, the influence of the radial component of the leakage field on critical current and AC losses is much heavier than that of the axial one, so a leakage magnetic field in HTS transformer design must be carefully considered. In this paper the influence of the core structure and the winding configuration on the leakage field is studied by finite element method (FEM), and some suggestions for reducing the maximal radial component of leakage field are presented to make HTS transformer more efficient.
