Abstract :
In many industrial applications, sensors are located in different parts of the system. It may be cost-effective and efficient to use a shared communication network to connect these sensors, control processors and actuators. However, the trade-off is the induced random delays being generated by the network traffic. These delays may significantly affect the stability and performance of the system. In the present paper, we consider an interconnected system which closes its feedback control loop via this type of communication network. A novel multi-mode state prediction scheme is developed to estimate the current no-delay system states based on the given measurements and knowledge of the length of each queue. An active suspension system example is given to show the performance of the proposed scheme
