Abstract
Conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) due to the operation of HVDC converter station is caused by the processes during ignition and extinction of the thyristors in the converter valves. A method is developed in this paper for calculating the EMI level of the 12-pulse plusmn500 kV converter stations. In this method, the main equipments of the converter station are modeled and connected. The stray capacitances are considered in this model. A comparison is conducted between the measured and simulated. From some typical waveforms obtained by this paper, it is found that the high frequency components of the electromagnetic field radiated by the valve are caused by the snubber circuits.
