Abstract :
Nowadays wind energy is the fastest growing renewable energy resource in the world. The problems that arise in integrating such wind farms are because of change in wind speed during a day. Moreover, the behavior of wind turbines equipped with doubly-fed induction generator differs fundamentally from synchronous generators. Therefore, more considerations are needed to analyze the performance of the distance protection relays. In this paper the protection of such a wind farm with distance relay is inspected. Conditions of the wind farm are changed and the ideal trip characteristic of distance relay is studied.
