Abstract
A novel particle swarm optimization (PSO) based on chaos searching has been proposed and introduced to optimize the electrical apparatus. The improved PSO algorithm has both advantage of simplify for implement of original particle swarm optimization and advantage of fast convergence, easy to escape local minima for chaos optimization algorithm. The validity and feasibility of improved PSO algorithm have been verified by deliberately designed Rastrigin function and optimized 500 kV GIS spacer. The more uniform electric field distribution is obtained by optimized the structure of spacer. The improved optimization has also provided a new method for the design of complex apparatus structure.
