Abstract :
Corona discharges from faulty insulators are different from normal insulators, so detection of corona discharges from insulators can be used to check the insulation state of insulators. An ultraviolet (UV) pulse monitoring method is described in this paper, by detecting the UV pulse from corona discharges. Tests for insulators of 0 kV and 220 kV voltage rating were carried out in high voltage hall, results indicate that this method is effective for insulators on-line monitoring.
