Abstract :
As a result of dialogue between the radio systems planning industry and the National Remote Sensing Centre Ltd (NRSC), a contract was placed upon NRSC to derive a three-tier terrain cover database for the south-east of England. Intended as a pilot study to assess the effectiveness of remote sensing as a source for terrain information, this paper details the methods that were employed to create the pilot study database, and provides a discussion of the results achieved
