  • Abstract
Giant magnetostrictive actuators have the magneto-mechanical coupling characteristic when they are operating normally. This paper presents a dynamic magneto-mechanical strong coupled model for giant magnetostrictive actuators. According to the model and the measured magnetic characteristic of giant magnetostrictive material, the relation between the magnet field and the output displacement of an actuator is calculated by means of the finite element method. The comparison between the calculating results and the experimental ones for the actuator shows that they are in agreement well. The proposed model can be used in the designing of giant magnetostrictive actuator.
