Abstract :
With the scale expansion of the distribution network and the improvement of the level of equipments automation, the network structure is transforming from radial and tree structure to the ring or even mesh structure gradually. Considering the high penetration of DGs in future, the operating environment will become more complicated. The relay based on off-line pickup setting pattern can´t isolate faults quickly and accurately. It would hardly meet the development needs of smart distribution network and the user requirements. This paper proposed a method based on clustering analyze to classify the operating modes into different categories which have apparent disparity between them. According to the classification, the relay with several pickup values could become adaptive to most of the operating modes.
