Abstract :
Digital video broadcasting over handheld devices (DVB-H) is based on the DVB-T specification for digital terrestrial television, adding to it number of features designed to take account of the particular environments in which such receivers must operate. These working environments are time-invariant but the actual case, is that the environment models are time-variant. So, the current standard of DVB-H, which employs static technique for the pilot carriers assignment is not suitable for such time-variant environment. This paper presents a dynamic technique for pilot carriers assignment (DPCA) based on the channel state information (CSI). Simulation has been performed in typical environment; AWGN, multipath channel and TU6 channel models using the three modes of operations of DVB-H. The results show that the proposed technique provides a performance improvement over the conventional static pilot carriers assignment with adding small computational overhead.
